Still on track for first week of June

Just a quick update that we are still on track to open the bridge to traffic the first week of June.

Crews today focused on testing the new drawspan, which is why the center channel was closed for several hours during the middle of the day.

The project team is also focusing on important but not-so-visible tasks that must be completed before the bridge is safe for people to drive across.

We sent out a press release today to update the media, and the principal project engineer had a quote that I think makes the bridge construction relatable to a lot of people who have built or remodeled a home.

Dave Ziegler said: "Like when building a new house, even though it might look ready from the outside, there is lots of interior work to do before move-in day arrives."

But we're getting really close. We'll provide an update Sunday afternoon describing how the remaining work is progressing. Stay tuned.

Thanks for the info! Everyone deserves big thanks involved. Nothing happens without glitches and complaints. But you all deserve huge kudos too!

Thank you for update. I am waiting to drive back to my dentist in Poulsbo. Took us nearly four hours to go from Port Hadlock to Poulsbo last week.Beautiful scenery, but two trips of that kind are too much.

This is like the last week of being pregnant. The anticipation is slowing the days to a crawl.

This is much like the last couple weeks of being pregnant. A resolution date is stated, however, the waiting is almost unbearable!

Come on... It's Sunday afternoon. Totally keeping my cool here, I swear. I have finals at the UW next week and my GPA depends on not being exhausted from the commute to pass my tests...Say it'll open Tuesday.

Com' on Jamie, it's Sunday the 31st at 8:45 pm and no update on the bridge construction. On Friday you said Sunday afternoon there would be an update. We're waiting.

I am a little disappointed. You said there would be an update Sunday afternoon. It is now 9 PM and nothing. You have been so good at keeping us informed. I hope this doesn't mean things have taken a turn backward.

If you say you are going to post an update on Sunday afternoon, it would be great if you could actually post an update on sunday afternoon. If for some reason you don't have any new information by sunday afternoon, at least post something saying "hey we don't have any new info at this time, we'll update again tomorrow".

If you're not working Sunday, then don't tell us you're working Sunday. Thanks.

If you say you will be giving a Sunday afternoon update, you should do so. Even if the update is that you have no additional information.

Is it Sunday PM yet?It has, and will be, BEAUTIFUL weather to work. We have really LONG days with LOTS of daylight. There should be NO excuses.

Hey complainers looking for an update! Get over it! You'll know when the bridge is opened when it is announced. Give these people a break! The entire project is hoping to open way sooner than expected, so just be happy and quit looking for something to complain about!

Could you tell us if this three day window of notification rumor is true we have been hearing it on the jefferson side from canal transit. Also why was there noboby working on the bridge last night at about 7:30 pm because right now nobody deserves a day off buisineses are dying and people are struggling seriously and where is our update

update please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They do deserve a day off... in fact they deserve a huge applause!!! It was said the bridge would be closed for six weeks. It has been said for a long time. If you didn't plan for the whole six weeks then that is YOUR fault. You know what happens when you assume. I have talked to numerous people who have said that if the bridge opens early, great! If not, they had planned on it being closed for SIX WEEKS!

'Sunday' update was just posted. Sorry for the delay. As for our workers knocking off a bit early, please keep in mind that a great deal of the construction and fine-tuning is taking place inside the pontoons as well.
